The Hide Beetle Flat Trap Kit (IL-100) comes in quantities of 10 traps and lures or 100 traps and lures. The Hide Beetle Flat Traps™ and pheromone lures are designed to attract the Hide Beetle, Dermestes maculatus.

Hide Beetle kits feature Insect Limited’s signature pheromone lures that use a blend of 8 different pheromones mixed into a food attractant, to draw-in Hide Beetles over a 3-month period. The lures are paired with the Flat Trap™ which is the recommended, field-tested and best trapping system for these beetles. These traps can easily be placed on floors, under furniture or on shelves in closets or throughout other living spaces or storage rooms. Beetles that are attracted to the lure are readily stuck in the glue for monitoring purposes upon entering the trap.

This Hide Beetle Kit pairs the science of insect biology to the technology of a trapping system to assist you with the task of monitoring for these pests in your environment. In an Integrated Pest Management program, monitoring can ultimately help you reduce pest numbers. When paired with a trapping system, the lures do this by:
Telling you if insects are present
Indicating where they are coming from and
Finally telling you whether the control measures (E.g. removal of infested product, increased sanitation, freezing of infested products, etc), that you have taken are working or not

When to replace the traps.
The traps will need to be folded into place by hand, according to the instructions on the back of the kit box. The glue pad on each trap is covered with release paper that should be removed after the traps have been folded into place.
Each pheromone lure is packaged in a zipper-lock resealable bag to keep them fresh until you are ready to place them into a trap. When you are ready to use this product, the lures should be removed from their package and placed on their sides into the center of the glue pads on each trap.
Although the pheromone in the lures is non-toxic, avoid direct contact with your skin if possible, or simply wash your hands with warm water and soap if contact is made. Pheromone lures are non-pesticidal and only act as an insect attractant. If the glue from the trap accidentally gets onto your hands, it is not toxic and can be easily washed off using soap and warm water.
The traps are then ready to be placed out in areas where beetles are being seen. These traps will begin your monitoring program for Hide Beetles that are attracted to the blend of pheromones and food attractants.

Each Hide Beetle Kit box has dimensions of 10 inches X 9 inches X 1 inches and weighs 1 lb for shipping purposes. Online customers can choose their shipping options at checkout. Orders placed before 3pm EST typically get processed that day. If placed after 3pm EST, your order will be processed the next business day. Orders are shipped Monday-Friday.
We currently cannot accept a PO Box as a shipping address. All US orders are shipped via FedEx/UPS. Be sure to include a valid street address as they will not deliver to a PO Box.
All Canadian orders are shipped via USPS. While we don't expect delays, sometimes this can happen when the package goes through customs. If you would like to have your package shipped via UPS, please give us a call at 317-896-9300. Please note, that a brokerage fee will apply, on top of the shipping cost, when the package arrives in Canada.
