Working closely with the pest control industry, Insects Limited recognized that pest control operators and residential customers alike needed an easy and effective device that could fit in areas suspected of insect infestation without taking up much space.
The Pantry Patrol is a proprietary attractant in a gel form that incorporates several sex pheromones and food attractants for more than 20 species of insects that attack food. This includes:
Food moths (Indian meal moth, Mediterranean flour moth, Raisin moth, Tobacco moth)
Flour beetles (Red flour beetle, Confused flour beetle)
Grain beetles (Saw-toothed grain beetle, Merchant grain beetle, Lesser grain borer, and more)
Each Pantry Patrol trap is triangular in shape with a built-in pitfall area to capture insects. This low-profile trap slides easily beneath equipment or is designed to slide directly into corners or can be placed along walls.

This gel has been designed to be both an attractant and the means of capturing the insects. Once the insects have fallen into the gel they cannot get back out. This gel has also been created to stay in place. If temporarily tipped, it will not spill.

While this product will attract similar species of insects as other products on the market, Pantry Patrol gel attracts a wider range of common stored food insects and has outperformed other attractants in USDA studies. It is so effective that it is only one of two devices approved for monitoring the export of rice outside of the USA.

How is it designed?
Pantry Patrol Gel Packs combine the best insect pheromones with the most attractive food attractants. The (verified) non-allergenic, grain-oil-based food attractant is the perfect synergist to the sex and aggregation pheromones that are also incorporated into this product. Not only are the insects attracted because they think they are going to meet with other insects, but they also think there is a food source available as well.
How It Works
The pheromone/food-attractant gel is squeezed into the pitfall area of the trap. The trap is then placed into the corner of a pantry, kitchen, or storeroom, or they can be placed onto shelving or onto store shelves. The traps can immediately begin to draw-in insect pests who will climb up the engineered ramp and fall into the pitfall area of the trap. The insects that fall into the gel in the pitfall, will immediately drown in the pheromone gel and oil mixture.

How the PantryPatrol Trap is Designed
The gel was conveniently designed using pheromones and a food attractant as a clean way to monitor for the presence of insects from multiple species. The attractant gel is in individually packaged 3 cc squeeze tubes for easy placement.
The PantryPatrol trap was methodically designed by entomologists who work with and study the target insects every day, and who understand the needs of an easy to inspect device. They ensured the device lay flat so as to not have any obstacles for the insects to climb.
The slope of the trap is mathematically calculated to ensure the insects will create momentum ascending the trap, and meets a curved edge forcing the insect to fall into the pitfall area that contains the gel attractant.
Our entomologists spent hours observing the insects to determine a texture of the slope to complement the insect’s behaviors that were observed.

What to Expect with Your Order
Many customers purchasing the PantryPatrol trap with Gel are doing so because they suspect the presence of food infesting insects.
Once the PantryPatrol Display Case is received, you will your will find 12 printed boxes neatly in order and on display from front to back. Each box contains two PantryPatrol Traps and two PantryPatrol pheromone gel squeeze tubes. When you are ready to use a trap, tear off the thin top portion of the squeeze pack and gently squeeze the gel into the pitfall area of the trap.
When the PantryPatrol trap with Gel is loaded with its attractant, place the device on a flat surface roughly 2-5m (5-15ft) apart.
Depending on the levels of infestation, insect catches could happen within 24 hours 2 weeks.
The Story Behind the Trap
Who made it?
The PantryPatrol trap was designed by Insects Limited entomologists and tested by pest control operators. The traps are creating using plastic injection technology.
What inspired its creation?
As a company based in science, innovation, and quality products (and education), our entomologists realized there was no trap available in the market created with the behavior and biology of the insects taken into account.
Obstacles We Overcame to Make a Great Product
Getting the dimensions of the trap correct was difficult. Some insects crawl well. Some have more trouble.
In particular, our trap was designed to suit the needs of the weakest crawling insect, the flour beetles. These beetles have little hairs on their tarsals (feet) making it difficult to climb up smooth surfaces.
Our entomologists spent many hours observing these insects attempting to climb different iterations of the trap. After purchasing the device, be sure to take note of all of the intricate details included because of our scientific observations.
How was the product tested?
We first start with intense lab testing. Our entomology lab has 1x1 meter arenas set up where we actively attempt to create an environment the insect will not want to leave.
We give them everything they need, but we also present them with the opportunity to travel to our trap and the attractant inside. If our attractant and trap can pull the insect out of the optimal environment in the lab then we are ready to test the devices in the field.
We have created relationships with some of the best pest control operators in the industry. We trust these pest management specialists to test our products thoroughly and give us honest feedback. If we receive not only positive feedback, but feedback that our product works better than others, then we are ready to take our design to manufacturing and make it available to everyone.

Online customers can choose their shipping options at checkout. Orders placed before 3pm EST typically get processed that day. If placed after 3pm EST, your order will be processed the next business day. Orders are shipped Monday-Friday.
We currently cannot accept a PO Box as a shipping address. All US orders are shipped via FedEx/UPS. Be sure to include a valid street address as they will not deliver to a PO Box.
All Canadian orders are shipped via USPS. While we don't expect delays, sometimes this can happen when the package goes through customs. If you would like to have your package shipped via UPS, please give us a call at 317-896-9300. Please note, that a brokerage fee will apply, on top of the shipping cost, when the package arrives in Canada.
